Meem Muhtasim Mahdi
Meem Muhtasim Mahdi is the Research Manager of the “ICT & Engineering” team of Dhaka University Research Society (DURS). He was the Research Manager and Team Coordinator of the former “Engineering & Technology” team in 2019 and 2018 respectively. He completed his BSc in Leather Engineering from the Institute of Leather Engineering & Technology, University of Dhaka in 2019 and currently continuing his MSc from the same institute. He worked as a Research Assistant at Institute of Leather Engineering & Technology, University of Dhaka and Field Research Assistant at James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University.
His current research includes the development of eco-friendly leather processing chemicals, wastewater treatment technology and industrial health hazards. His research work appears in peer-reviewed international journals and he presented 5 papers in international conferences in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Turkey, and India.
Apart from his research works, he has active participation in a diverse assortment of extracurricular activities for social welfare. He was an activist of SAMPREETI project of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), Bangladesh and a contributor of the R&D department of a Social Action Project (SAP) named “Enlightening Youth” under Active Citizens’ Youth Leadership program of British Council, Bangladesh. He was awarded with the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s international award for his contribution to community development in 2019. In 2020, he visited India for the showcasing of Social Action Project on invitation of British High Commission, India. He received several recognitions in various scientific Olympiads and stipend from the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for academic excellence.
